Functional stereotactic surgery strives to improve motor function and to reduce disability by alleviating symptoms of a movement disorder. Benefit in the context of movement disorder surgery is therefore a complex variable addressing the multi-dimensional components of health and health-related well-being in an individual. DBS Selection criteria for motor complications in PD, PD tremor and potential complications of DBS therapy including the role of the levodopa challenge test will be covered in this course.
