With over 50 years of clinical use, levodopa still remains the gold standard for symptomatic therapy for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Compared to other dopaminergic medications, the administration of levodopa yields the largest improvement in motor function. However, long-term use of levodopa is frequently complicated by the development of various types of motor fluctuations, including dyskinesias. Strategies designed not only to treat these problems, but also to delay the troublesome complications associated with potential risk factors will be discussed in this course.

Part of the Coffee Break CME Series. The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

This module will take approximately 2 hours to complete.

Faculty- Dr. Roongroj Bhidayasiri
