Patients with refractory motor fluctuations that cannot be managed with oral medication, or requiring at least six daily intermittent subcutaneous injections of apomorphine, as well as patients who remain handicapped after deep cerebral stimulation, or in some cases even prior to functional neurosurgery are good candidates for enteral L-dopa Therapy. Patient education of levodopacarbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) therapy and the monitoring of patients receiving LCIG will be discussed in this course.
